Whatever you are going through, whatever you are facing, whatever battle you are fighting, see it through until the end. Just a little longer.

Pastor Bill Wilson of Metro Ministries, one of the largest kids ministries in the world, tells a story of a little girl that he encountered on the mission field in a very impoverished and remote village.

The girl was laying outside on the ground with her insides spilled out of her body, but she was somehow still alive. She was in a very sick state and didn’t have much time left. Pastor Bill felt the urgency and asked the locals where the closest hospital was and they told him that it was a few hours away, across a river that was a military checkpoint which he couldn’t pass through.

They were basically telling him that it was impossible to save this girl’s life. Bill responded by finding a vehicle and putting the girl in it to take her to the hospital.

He started driving in the direction of the hospital and quickly came to a stopping point when he arrived at the military checkpoint. The guards commanded that he stop his vehicle and turn around to go the other direction. Bill, with his raspy voice, was yelling at the guards explaining the situation and was persistent that he was going to pass through.

He started moving forward and the guards fired a few warning shots with their weapons and said they would shoot to kill if he kept going. At this moment Bill had to decide what he was going to do. Was he going to stop and turn around? Or was he going to push forward to see his mission through until the end?

He stopped and prayed in his vehicle saying “Lord, I’m going to cross this river to save this girl, do what only You can do to stop them from shooting me.”

He pressed on the gas and crossed the river and for some reason, the guards let him pass untouched. Bill was able to get the girl to a hospital which saved her life.

He told this story at a conference held at Foothills Church called Future Quest. At the beginning of his story he showed a photo of the girl when she was sick and at the end, he showed a photo of her five years later and she was healthy like a normal girl!

Bill saved her and from that point forward she was able to live a normal, healthy life.

What would have happened if he would have stopped at the river because of the opposition that he was facing, and turned around to go back to the village? The girl would have certainly died and missed out on the life ahead of her.

He felt the urgency of the situation and he was determined to see it through.

For just about all of us, we aren’t facing something as heavy or difficult as this circumstance, yet we still find ourselves overtaken by fear and pressure and find ourselves turning around and giving up.

Some of us find ourselves even giving up before we hit a roadblock; we don’t take any action in the first place. Maybe you are battling a temptation or sin that has been going on for years and you can’t find victory. You desire to be a God-fearing man or woman who walks uprightly, but you keep failing. Maybe it’s a relationship or a marriage that you are just discouraged with. You might have a vision to change your workplace, start a business, a ministry, or even a church.

We all have something that we are facing and we have to decide that we are going to hold on a little longer and see it through until the end.

Whatever it is that you are going through, seek the Lord that he would guide you and strengthen your efforts. Commit in your heart and mind that you will continue to pursue what is right.

Hosea 10:12 says, “Sow with a view of righteousness, reap in accordance with kindness; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord until He comes to rain righteousness on you.”

See it through until the end.
